Couch Surfing.

On Tuesday night I Couch Surfed. It was totally amazing. I felt so lucky and happy to be staying with locals in Barcelona. I didn't even think they existed.

Maria and Joan looked after me so well, showed me round, fed me, housed me. And we had a lot of fun. They were both 22. She was studying to become a physiotherapist and he was a baker.

On Tuesday evening, we had a big dinner with all their friends and one of the flatmates who was a cook made the food and it was delicious. Traditional tapas for starters. They slightly toast some bread then rub a tomato on it and cut slices of jamon and cured meat over it. Delicious.

I was so surprised to find that they all preferred to speak Catalan together. While I was there they spoke Spanish but the second they were not talking to me or if I was not really listening they'd switch to Catalan. It's amazing how far I felt from the Spain I discovered in Seville. In Catalunia, bullfighting is banned, they had never seen any.  Flamenco is hardly danced whereas here they learn how to dance it before they can even walk.
