El Realejo.
As my trip to Grenada was last minute I had not booked my tickets to visit el Alhambra. Everyone told me it'd be very hard to get tickets for the morning visit but that the summer evening tickets were pretty easy to get. So at around 1800 I take one of Grenada's mini buses (top picture) to the el Alhambra. I was two hours early and pretty confident I'd be able to buy a ticket. But no. They had all sold out. The lady told me I had to be here at 0630 the next morning if I wanted a chance to visit this architectural wonder.
So pretty distraught at the thought of waking up again at 0500 I decided to make the most of the evening and visit the rest of Grenada. I wondered down from el Alhambra which sits on top of a hill (Sierra Nevada) and walked through tropical forests into a quarter called Realejo. It was absolutely stunning. Clinging onto the hillside the tiny streets are all on slopes. The white washed houses and palm trees look onto the rest of Grenada. It was simply breathtaking.
